Oral Hygiene: The Tips You Need for Even Stronger Teeth and Gums

Posted .

Do you work toward a strong and healthy smile by brushing twice a day and flossing once a day? If so, you’re on the right track! But did you know there are additional things you can do to have even stronger teeth and gums? Well, it’s true, and our dentist, Dr. Grant Brough, is happy to tell you all about them. In addition to brushing and flossing, you should:

-Use mouthwash: It’s best to rinse your mouth with mouthwash at least once a day. Rinsing can help you further clean your teeth and gums, it can help you prevent dental issues by killing bacteria and strengthening the tooth enamel, and it can freshen your breath. As you rinse, make sure you use fluoride or antibacterial mouthwash that has been approved by the American Dental Association.

-Consume calcium and other vitamins: Calcium and Vitamin D help your body in many different ways. Calcium can strengthen your bones and your teeth. In fact, calcium is essential for a strong and healthy smile. So, please drink milk and orange juice as well as eat cheese, yogurt, and other dairy products.

-Clean your tongue: Whether you clean your tongue with your tongue scraper or toothbrush, it can help you remove the bacteria from the surface of the tongue, freshen your breath, and improve the health of your mouth.
