Inlays and onlays are a solution for minor tooth decay that has destroyed just a portion of the tooth’s healthy enamel. The inlay or onlay replaces the missing part of the tooth and, once placed, naturally completes the tooth. Your dentist may recommend a porcelain inlay or onlay if the damage is not extensive enough to warrant the use of a dental crown. Both inlays and onlays are used to repair damaged or decayed teeth.

The difference between an inlay and an onlay is how much of the tooth structure it restores. A dental inlay is used when the damage does not extend to the tooth cusps (the raised portions of the tooth’s surface), while a dental onlay is used to restore the cusps of the tooth. Each dental inlay and onlay provided by our dentists is custom made to perfectly fit your tooth and restore the health, beauty and function of your smile. Dr. Grant Brough and Dr. Spencer Pugmire will ensure that your inlay or onlay is strong, aesthetic and comfortable.
