How to Guide Your Child When They Want to Be a Dentist

Posted .

If your child or teen wants to be a dentist, good for them! Being a dentist is a great career choice. There are many great reasons why being a dentist can be wonderful for your child, and our dentist, Dr. Grant Brough, is happy to tell you all about them!

First, dentists help people’s smiles by detecting cavities, preventing dental problems, and even enhancing the appearance of the teeth and gums! Dentists also help people feel better, especially because the mouth is connected to the overall body. Dentists get to work with science and art every day, which are two very cool subjects. And dentists are leaders who are their own boss.

If your child is serious about being a dentist, they need to be serious about school. Generally, a college degree is required before going to dental school, which means your child will need to complete four years of college. They don’t need to major in science, but they will need to complete all of the prerequisites, which are Biology, Physics, English, General Chemistry, and Organic Chemistry.
